Having recently completed his rehabilitation, Tilak shared that he was pleasantly surprised by how quickly he returned to the field, attributing his swift recovery to the support provided by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and the Centre of Excellence (CoE). "Honestly, I didn't expect to be back this early. I'm really grateful to CoE and BCCI. Playing in the World Cup has always been my biggest dream," he remarked in a video released by the BCCI.
Now the question arises: Are India the favorites to clinch the T20 World Cup in 2026? Greenstone Lobo certainly has some bold predictions to make!
The young all-rounder felt a surge of emotions as he walked into a stadium packed with enthusiastic fans chanting his name. "When I stepped onto the field and heard everyone shouting 'Tilak, Tilak,' it felt wonderful. That energy really lifted me," he expressed, highlighting the vibrant atmosphere that surrounded even a warm-up match.
Motivated by the dynamic batting performances from his teammates, Tilak embraced the opportunity to play with freedom. "Seeing Ishan bat so aggressively, and the way Abhishek and others were performing, I was inspired to say, 'I want to go out there and hit some runs too.'
The excitement was palpable, and yes—Tilak and the Indian team are definitely geared up for the World Cup," he added confidently. On the field, Tilak lived up to his words by scoring a rapid-fire 45 runs off just 19 balls, contributing to India's impressive total of 240 runs for five wickets. The bowling unit then displayed exceptional skill and composure, restricting South Africa to 210 runs, thus securing a convincing victory.
With his timely return injecting fresh enthusiasm into the squad, Tilak's presence is set to energize India's focus as they prepare for their World Cup opener against the USA this coming Saturday.
But here's where it gets controversial: Given the expectations placed on young players like Tilak, do you think the pressure to perform at such high-stakes events can hinder or help their development? We’d love to hear your thoughts on this in the comments!
